As one of the strangest, most stressful and just plain difficult years in recent history winds down, all of us at Rev are looking forward to the holiday season more than ever. Thanks to social distancing and limits on gatherings, it’s looking like getting together with our families is going to be harder to coordinate. Out of respect for the safety of loved ones, many of our team members are already planning to spend their holidays with their immediate families, their partners or by themselves. No matter what, things are going to be different this year so it’s especially important for all of our patients to take charge of their self-care.
A great way to do that is to modify your cannabis regimen to literally and figuratively combine your medication with your favorite holiday treats. There are lots of benefits to consuming cannabis edibles and during the holiday season, making your own edibles is a fun and flavorful way to take care of yourself or share the benefits of cannabis with others.
From salad dressing to cake frosting and everything in between, just about every recipe in the world calls for either oil or butter. As you can see in the video below, the Ardent LIFT is an easy to use tool that enables you to create your own cannabis infused oil or butter in the comfort of your own kitchen. All you need is the cannabis flower of your choice and some regular butter or oil. The Ardent LIFT takes care of the critical process of decarboxylating your cannabis and infusing your butter or oil.
Once you have medicated butter or oil to work with, you can create all kinds of tasty dishes that will deliver the therapeutic effects you want. Here are a few of our all-time favorites that are perfect for Friendsgiving or just enjoying at home while Zooming with family to make this altogether different holiday season as festive as possible.
Medicated Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
Roasting a turkey is an all-day affair best reserved for a group of friends and family but mashed potatoes and gravy is a dish you can enjoy all year round. This simple staple is even more enjoyable when infused with the therapeutic powers of THC. Follow the easy, step-by-step instructions in the video below and get ready to see “comfort food” in a whole new light!
Medicated Cranberry Sauce and Cornbread Stuffing
Aside from the turkey and mashed potatoes, Thanksgiving just isn’t Thanksgiving without cranberry sauce and stuffing. We chose these dishes because they’re easy to make and will give your vegetarian holiday guests something tasty to enjoy. For the cranberry sauce, all you need is a jar or can of your favorite pre-made cranberry sauce and a distillate applicator with the cannabis oil of your choice. The cornbread stuffing requires the cannabutter we showed you how to make in the video above. Once you master these simple dishes, you can move on to slightly more complicated cannabis culinary creations!
Medicated Apple Pie
When the pressure of the holiday season combined with the frustrations of COVID become tough for you to swallow, dessert is a dish best served medicated. Check out how the cannabutter you’ve already learned how to make can become an apple pie that will help you take the edge off your holiday stress. Our recipe calls for caramel edibles but that’s just a nice thing to have. Feel free to use any caramel product you find at the grocery store and melt it as the video suggests with a dollop of cannabutter and you’ll achieve the same effect.
Medicated Caramel Apples
In a year where nothing is normal for very long and every tradition is subject to change, we say it’s perfectly OK to serve Caramel Apples to your guests at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or any other holiday for that matter. Heck, have them this Saturday! If you decide to medicate them, just be sure to consume them responsibly. Here’s how to make the medicated magic happen:
Medicated Oreo Peppermint Crunch Cookies
It’s highly unlikely that any cookie swaps will be happening this year. Even if there were, this recipe is not something you’ll want to share with just anyone. Only close friends and family over the age of 21 who appreciate the therapeutic powers of cannabis, please. Featuring the decadent flavors of Oreos and Andes peppermint candies, these rich, yet refreshing treats put cannabutter to extraordinary use.
