The Rasta Review: August Edition

You know what time it is!

This month marks 6 years since I started my journey in this business but my intimate journey with this plant started many years ago back home in Jamaica where I grew up. From getting the opportunity to be in the fields to starting to smoke myself, in some ways I also started my journey in seeing the Rastafarian way of life, which is Love to All. In 2018, I was given a chance to be a part of something great, in working towards the advancement of humanity with more love and understanding for each other. In a way I have found my purpose in being an ally of nature and of this therapeutic plant. My purpose for doing what I do is LOVE: Love for the plant, Love for seeing people happy and in good health.

Now, on to the flowers of the month! I have been experimenting with flower from the Insa brand and have been enjoying it. Their sativa is the Lemon OZ, which I found to have a very clear-headed effect, along with the high which was a low-key buzz that moved me towards getting things done with a smile on my face. The flavors were lemon, lime, and citrus with a creaminess to it.

The hybrid from Insa is the Mad Honey. This had a captivating blend of potency and flavor with an aroma that inherited all the great qualities of both parents (Honey Banana crossed with Sherbanger). The flavors were that of tropical berries, citrus, and sweet fruits. I had a very cerebral effect from this strain (similar to Headband) and I liked it very much.

I tried two indica strains from Insa, the first being Grape Cream Cake which is a cross of Ice Cream Cake and Grape Pie, the runner up for the Leafly strain of the year in 2023. The aroma was that of a freshly baked grape pie with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.  The strain that I liked more than all the others, though, was the Sherb Cake. The parent strain is one of my favorites, Sunset Sherbet, crossed with Wedding Cake. This strain raised my creativity level along with motivation and euphoria, while also allowing for relaxation at the same time. The high was amazing with a full-bodied effect stimulating the mind while keeping the body in a calm state. Flavors and aroma were of a tropical nature while a bit earthy, and spicy with a vanilla undertone which in the end was sweet.

One additional note of advice: do not sleep on Devil Driver from the Neighborgoods brand. I have enjoyed this strain over the past month and love it each time. Have a great rest of your month. As summer winds down, let us help you find your new favorite flower.
