Why Should You (Still) Apply For A Medical Cannabis Card?
While marijuana is now legal in Massachusetts for anyone over 21, there are still many reasons to apply for a medical cannabis card:
Tax
No taxes on medical cannabis. You will save quite a bit of money by not paying the 17-20% tax on recreational products.
High Dose
Recreational edibles are only allowed to have 5 mgs of THC, whereas medical edibles do not have a limit
Availability
Medical patients are prioritized over recreational shoppers. You’ll typically find more product availability, shorter lines, and a more professional experience.
Exclusive deals
Discounts and sales are more widely available in the medical market, whereas recreational dispensaries are not technically allowed to offer discounts.
Purchase Limits
Medical card holders are allowed to purchase up to a 60-day supply or a maximum of 10 ounces of flower. By contrast, recreational customers may purchase only up to one ounce of flower at a time.
Inter-state Reciprocity
You can use your MA med card in a few other states, including Maine and Rhode Island.
